REstart is devoted to bringing two of the most basic needs—housing and employment—to disadvantaged individuals caught in the cycle of poverty, substance abuse, and domestic violence. It was established by the Bobby Jo Lewis (BJL) Foundation in San Diego in memory of a daughter and mother who lost their lives in a tragic domestic violence situation. IREM’s San Diego Chapter has embraced and successfully sponsored the program as a meaningful way to engage committed volunteers and give back to the community by preparing disadvantaged adults to gain employment in property management.
