Guidelines
Why are Installations Important?
- To publicly recognize and congratulate those individuals who have proven their professional competence by earning an IREM credential.
- To reinforce the value of IREM credentials with current and potential members who may be present at the installation.
Who Can Conduct Installations?
- National Officers or Senior Vice Presidents
- Regional Vice Presidents
- Current Chapter Presidents
- Other Current Chapter Officers
- Past Chapter Presidents
Before You Start
- Prepare, plan, and coordinate so that the installation is a special, pleasant experience and runs smoothly.
- Have someone ready to take individual and group photos of new members for post-installation promotions through chapter communication channels and copies for the individuals.
- Know exactly where each individual should stand and be sure there is enough room if you have multiple individuals to install.
- Have a complete list of names of each new member with their company names, grouped by credential – CPM, ARM, and ACoM installations can take place at the same time, although they should be called up grouped by credential.
- Have the pins, certificates, and codes in order and ready to present, grouped by credential (note: it takes approximately 2 weeks from the members’ approval date for a pin/certificate to arrive. Expedited shipping is available upon request)
- Review the installation scripts and be sure you have “filled in the blanks” and can present smoothly.
Installation Script
It is a privilege and an honor to be part of this momentous occasion. This installation ceremony marks not only a significant achievement by each of our newest credentialed members, but it also marks the gateway to a whole new level of professional potential for them, their firms, and their clients. On behalf of the individuals being installed today, I would like to thank their families, friends, colleagues, and employers who have supported and championed them on this professional journey.
As forward thinkers who want to make a difference through professional and ethical business practices, these individuals will help keep IREM as the world’s leading real estate management association. Today, we are growing and strengthening the IREM community. When one member of IREM succeeds, we all share in that achievement. It is my pleasure to recognize these outstanding colleagues who have demonstrated much dedication and hard work by earning an IREM credential, and are now ready to transform their professional knowledge and ethical standards into exceptional value for (their/his/her) companies, properties, and clients. When I call your name(s), please come forward.
(Start with new CPMs, clearly announcing the individuals’ names, their companies, and the credential they have earned. Then do the same for new ARMs, followed by new ACoMs. Be sure not to rush these introductions – allow time for applause before the next person is called. This is their big moment – make it special.)
Along with the prestige and benefits that come with your IREM credential also comes important responsibilities. The IREM Code of Professional Ethics establishes and maintains public confidence in the honesty, integrity, professionalism, and ability of all IREM Members. By agreeing to adhere to the IREM Code of Professional Ethics, you pledge to:
- advance the professional real estate management industry,
- maintain the highest moral and ethical standards,
- preserve and encourage fair and equitable practices and competition among all who are engaged in our profession,
- to place honesty, integrity, and industriousness above all else,
- to pursue ongoing education,
- to comply with the principles and declarations of IREM
- and to acknowledge the ethical principles as set forth in the International Ethics Standards established by the International Ethics Standards Coalition of which the Institute is a member
I ask you to acknowledge these responsibilities by raising your right hand. (Pause)

It is a privilege and an honor to be part of this momentous occasion. This installation not only marks a significant achievement made by each new AMO firm, but it is also the gateway to a whole new level of professional potential for these companies, and their employees, and their clients.
The AMO accreditation is the only recognition of excellence given to real estate management firms. The requirements to become an AMO firm are now more relevant, and demanding, than ever to real estate managers, their clients, and the assets they manage. It is my honor to formally recognize the (number of firms being installed) firm(s) that (have/has) achieved the high standards of professionalism, ethical practices, and financial stability that qualify (it/them) as an AMO.
The driving force behind every successful management firm is diligent professionals, committed to making a difference in the lives of those they manage. I would like to ask the Executive CPM Member(s) of (this/these) firm(s) to please come forward as I call your name.

I am pleased to present an emeritus membership plaque to a member of this chapter.
Emeritus status is truly an honorary status that recognizes members who have shown long-term commitment to IREM and its programs. Today, it is with great pleasure that I present this emeritus CPM membership plaque to (recipient's name) who has been a member of IREM since (year of approval).

(Recipient's name) has earned emeritus status because (he/she) has been a member for at least 25 years and has made outstanding contributions of personal time and effort at both the national and local levels. As incoming officers of the IREM (Chapter Name) Chapter, you are about to assume a vital role in leading the Institute of Real Estate Management into the future. The leadership you provide to the members of your chapter will determine not only how well the chapter operates for your year in office, but how your professional peers and the public at large view the real estate management profession. As representatives of your chapter, you will be examples of the ethical conduct and professional excellence that the CPM, ARM, and ACoM credentials represent.
The commitment you are about to make today will require time, effort, and perhaps even a little sacrifice. But the fact that you have been elected to this office by your fellow chapter members demonstrates to me that you have the ability to meet this challenge. And I wholeheartedly endorse their selection!
