Professional Recognition Awards

Overview

The IREM Foundation recognizes outstanding individuals who make valuable contributions and show extraordinary dedication to the real estate management profession and, in so doing, enhance the stature of the profession. The objective of
this awards program is not only to recognize those who do contribute, but also to encourage others to make similar contributions to the profession. This is achieved through three awards:

  • J. Wallace Paletou Award for significant contributions to the real estate management industry
  • Louise L. and Y.T. Lum Award – for distinguished contribution to the real estate management profession through education, publishing, or the advancement of professional and ethical standards
  • Lloyd D. Hanford Sr. Distinguished Instructor Award – for outstanding contributions to the profession by serving as an IREM instructor

How to apply

  • Candidates for the awards have to be nominated by a CPM in good standing with IREM.
  • Nominators must submit a Nomination Ballot to the IREM Foundation.
  • Nominees will be notified by the IREM Foundation of their nomination and will be asked to submit a Nomination Form by June 1st.

J. Wallace Paletou Award

The J. Wallace Paletou Award is presented to an individual who has made significant contributions to the real estate management industry or contributed to the betterment of society as a whole through the role of a real estate manager. Nominations for the award are considered annually. If a recipient is selected for a given year, the Paletou Award is presented during the IREM Fall Conference.

Louise L. and Y.T. Lum Award

The Louise L. and Y. T. Lum Award recognizesindividuals who are actively engaged in real state management and have made distinguished contributions to the profession through education, publication or the advancement of ethical and professional standards. Nominations for the award are considered annually. When given, the Lum Award is presented during the IREM Fall Conference.
